Our team combines generations of knitting expertise with modern techniques to create high-quality wool garments built to last. From design to development, much of the work still happens in Dale, rooted in Norwegian heritage, driven by timeless quality.

People, craft and tradition

Old pictures of employees at Dale of Norway

Tucked between steep mountains and scenic fjords on the west coast of Norway, the village of Dale has been the home of our knitwear since 1879. Here, the bond between factory and community runs deep, woven together through generations.

While innovation and quality are cornerstones of our success, the true heroes of Dale of Norway are the people behind every garment. Some have worked here for 40, 50 even 60 years. We have several generations working side by side, and some are proud fifth-generation Dale employees. Loyalty like that doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built over time, shaped by care, tradition, and mutual respect. There’s even a legend about an employee who simply never retired. He continued walking his daily rounds through the factory, quietly avoiding any formal farewell. Some say he’s still here, a quiet presence, the Spirit of Dale of Norway. And in many ways, he is. Because every stitch carries the legacy of those who came before and the hands that keep the tradition alive today.

At Dale, craftsmanship isn’t just a skill, it’s a rhythm of life. From early mornings at the knitting machines to final quality checks, every step is filled with knowledge and pride. And every garment reflects that: real people, making something real.

When you wear a Dale of Norway sweater, you’re wearing more than wool. You’re wearing the spirit of a village, a legacy of loyalty, and the work of people who truly care.

Every stitch has a story

"My parents met at the factory. So, you could say I'm a true-born product of Dale of Norway. The factory was here when I was born, and I'm pretty sure it will still be here after I'm gone."
